Neilson's Chocolate card
Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
I recently picked up an assortment of E-type cards. A lot of
them are E120s; anyhow, included with this lot is a Neilson's
Chocolate card of Vic Aldridge (Pitcher Chicago Nationals).

I'm not familiar with this issue; so, need some enlightenment.
What is their actual ACC catalog identification ? And, I would
assume they are more valuable than a common E120 (which these
cards resemble); so, what is a typical one worth ? This one
would probably get an Ex grade.
Neilson's Chocolate card
Posted By: Rhett Yeakley
These came in 2 diff. types. One type has "Neilson's" written in Old English style on back and is printed on a thinner, glossier stock, this type is also numbered on the front. The second type is printed on thick cardboard, with Neilson's printed on back in all caps, and this style is unnumberred on the front. These were produced in Canada, thus the V-designation. Most say that the thicker stock cards are worth about 1.5X the thin stocked cards. But I have actually handled a bit more of the thicker cards, not to mention because they are thicker they tend to be in better shape. Anyways, hope this helps.
-Rhett

Posted By: warshawlaw
They are very nice looking and the stock on the thicker (type II) cards holds up quite nicely. I was pleasantly surprised at the degree of clarity of the image on the Heilmann I recently purchased.

Posted By: Ted Zanidakisc
Thanx Barry and Rhett for the information on these cards.
And you are absolutely right Warshawlaw, the quality of the
picture on these cards is much better than the E120 series.

The NEILSON's on the backs of the ones I have are printed in
the Old English style of lettering. Is there a difference in
the value of these vs. the standard printing style ?

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
Hal.....No serious Rookie cards in this lot; so, I do not
think that you would be interested. However, if I
find any for your "disposal", you'll be the first
to know.
