Attempted Fraud on T206 Lot
Posted By: Ted
I made one bid on this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5174207838&ssPage Name=STRK:MEWA:IT

Not sure if the link will work, but if not do a search on auction 5174207838.

While I know that it was a low grade lot, it was a way to handle a bunch of T206 cards, and if I sold them off slowly, maybe get my money back. The learning experience would be worth it.

I was immediately outbid, and so I forgot about it. The next day I got a second chance offer from ebay saying the reserve was not reached but I was being offered the lot for my high bid. I thought long and hard about it, and was about to go for it when I noticed a couple of odd things. The sellers name had changed, and also his email.

It turns out the second chance offer was a spoof. After reporting it to ebay, they told me a day later not to send any money as it could be a problem but nothing more. Thanks ebay.

Anyway, be especially careful with the second chance offers as there is phishing going on everywhere these days.

Ted
He who so shall, so shall he who!
