Hockey has amazing renovations finds too C55
Posted By: Max Weder
For those of you interested in renovating homes in Vancouver, BC, you never know what you might find. Here's a front page story in the sports section this morning...

http://www.canada.com/vancouver/vancouversun/news/sports/story.html?id=7c8a5c28-07e3-4b54-8041-c8179dd0787c

The writer doesn't mention if anyone local examined these to determine whether they are reprints, but at least one thing rings somewhat true about the story: the find didn't have Vezina or Cyclone Taylor. An "ebay find" would not have overlooked such a possibility.

You can't tell the condition from the web article, but the cards look in great shape from the newspaper article. I suspect the kid mentioned in the story might not have been collecting cards in 1911 but perhaps in 1991.

Max

He did mention that the cards were also found with lacrosse, "International League" and "military" cards, so he thought the cards were legitimate.

Max

Posted By: Julie
to replace them in one room, we found a carpenter's notation on a beam from Oct. 9, 1926. eVERYONE ALWAYS CHEATS!

I have the C57 Vezina and Tayor (which I prefer), but only a whisp of a Vezina from the C55 set (the one in my article is BMW's).

I think they're probably real--given the absence of those superstars.

Posted By: warshawlaw
There were all kinds of old cabinets that had been painted shut or warped shut for no one knows how long. I pried them all open but all I found was a 1968 newspaper (so I guess that cabinet had been shut for 30 years) and a few Garbage Pail cards from the seller's kids.
