Standard catalog of baseball cards
Posted By: Richard Dwyer
Bob:

I recently bought your 2005 catalog. What would be really neat is if I could have all that info on my palm pilot instead. If I was willing to pay for the data, would you let me convert it to a Documents to go document for palm pilot? (It would be a big puppy, but my 1gb expansion card should hold it)

I'd be happy to let you have a copy of it when done. Would be for my eyes only.

Standard catalog of baseball cards
Posted By: Bob Lemke
but to date management has rebuffed all overtures to make the book's data available in any form other than ink on paper. I do know that broad corporate-wide initiatives are under consideration to produce some or all of the contents of some or all of our "standard catalog" lines in electronic form, but nothing is imminent.

Posted By: J Levine
Bob,

I would love to have it on CD-Rom...make it much easier and printable for lists, etc. I would tell you that with the proliferation of online media, the first company to put it on a digital platform stands to make some money.

Speaking of the SCD, I found 2 small errors over the last couple of days...I am not complaining but should I notify someone? You? Publisher? Let me know...thanks,

Joshua

Standard catalog of baseball cards
Posted By: Richard Dwyer
This is what I had in mind when I posted. I love shopping for vintage cards. Always looking for the find of the century. Be nice to have the book on cd-rom or palm pilot for that purpose. (Bringing Standard catalog along is a bit too much weight to be carrying around).

Perhaps the corporation could look into selling the database on a locked memory card for Palm? I would be the first customer.

Standard catalog of baseball cards
Posted By: Bob Lemke
for the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards should be directed to me; but hurry as production for the 2006 is underway and deadlines are passing rapidly. Also, I will be sure to pass along all of your suggestions about alternate means of delivery of the book's data to our management.

Standard catalog of baseball cards
Posted By: Todd (nolemmings)
to show that they were issued in 1930. I thought you said you were going to do that 2 years ago. I cannot confirm as I sit here that the cards were issued only in 1930, but Smead Jolley did not play until that year and Bob Shawkey managed the yankees only that 1930 season, so 1928 or 1929 is not completely accurate:

Posted By: Cy
Bob,

Are you going to split the 2006 book into two pieces as you had hinted in a previous post?

Thanks.

Cy

Posted By: Bob Lemke
The Shawkey, manager, card certainly points to a 1930 issue. Can anybody else provide example of player/team combinations that would suggest earlier issue?

Standard catalog of baseball cards
Posted By: Bob Lemke
The 2006 Standard Catalog will continue in the one-volume format. The realities of today's book market, dominated by a few large retail chains and Amazon, dictate retention of the existing format.
