Places to obtain cards?
 

Posted By: <b>Shane</b><p>Well, first i'll intro myself. I'm Shane, 26 from Ohio. I just started collecting a few months ago when I obtained my first T206. I'm up to about 56 now and have gained a few more pre- WWII cards along the way, including a 1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig and a Sport kings Ty Cobb. <br /><br />Now, other than ebay, where are good places to purchase T206 commons at decent prices? I'm a poor criminal justice student and as of today I've been ripped off on ebay of over 500.00 in fake T206s i've bought. <br /><br />Any steering in the right direction would be great.

Posted By: <b>Joe P.</b><p>Shane, that's a nice start. <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14><br />It took me a bit longer to reach those numbers.<br />Coming here tells me that you're heading in the right direction.<br />You can never learn enough about the most popular set ever since 1909, I'm still learning.<br /><br />First, you go to the top of the topic page of this forum, and you look for that Search Posts link. ... click on it, and enter T206.<br />When you enter that, every post about the T206, the good as well as some of the evil doings attempted by maggots, ... will be yours to read.<br /><br />Then you have the VBC Buy/Sell/Trade Index.<br />There you might find a few things that you can add to your collection.<br />The offerings of the cards, sets and memorabilia might vary in prices, but it all depends on whether it's a high end article or affordable ones that might add to ones collection.<br />The best part is that the players are honorable.<br /><br />The bottom line is this.<br />The more you read.<br />The more you see.<br />The more you handle cards.<br />The more experience you'll have in detecting a problem card.<br />The best can be fooled.<br />The idea is to minumize the chances.<br /><br />I also buy from eBay, but the above helps.<br /><br />Whether you are a collector, or speculator:<br />I wish you Luck, and welcome aboard! <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14><br /><br />Joe P.
