Posted By: warshawlaw
As noted in the Verkman string, I got a strip of 10 W551 cards, representing the whole set. Six or seven are high grade (nominally nm) if I cut them down. Three are lower grade. I have been pursuing the set in high grade and already have a key in SGC 86. The $$ into it are not that great, BTW, approx $12 a card, so it isn't an uncut strip of T206's we are dealing with.

Do I cut down the strip and have 6-7 sharp graded high grade cards or do I keep the strip intact?

Posted By: pete
I would never cut it...you'd be stupid! Strips are increasing in popularity and value and they're becoming more scarce. It's much more interesting and valuable as a strip. Don't listen to Hal.

Many are already being cut up to produce high grade single. Strips are becoming harder to find all the time. Long term, you are far better off keeping it in tact, especially since it is the complete set.

If you really feel the need for greed, then sut them up.

Jay

Suppose you are an idiot...then suppose you are the President. Oh, wait. I'm repeating myself.

I think it's because we associate them with the "red headed stepchildren" strip sets, such as W512 or W515.

Some of the sets I'm talking about:

W503 - how many of these have you seen? they look great!
W517 - nice big 3" x 4" cards, fully stocked with stars and HOFers and colour variations.
W553 - Again, you dont often see these cards, but they have a cool looking ornate frame and nice crisp photos.
W574 - I donno if I'm alone on this one, but I think these are neat. Sorta squarish looking, simple design, but the photo quality is as clear as day. Same goes for W590.

The 20's caramels have already picked up alot in the past year, and I think the sharper looking strip sets will follow suit.

Posted By: Tim Mayer
i would frame it and put it on my wall, as many times cards get put into a vault rarely to be seen,

i love it when I find uncut sheets and I am always looking for good deals on them, even in bad condition as they look so good on the wall.

Cutting the cards up would be the easy way out, and I think you will regret it if you cut them up.

Tim
