Posted By: Trae R.
Does anyone personally know any of these PRO crackheads? I wish there was someway to put them out of business - they're a damned shame.

Posted By: BRIANKW

Look for staining and notching around the edges for starters. Then check the creases to see if the ones on the front an back match up, or are they merely made to look that way.
The more T206's you handle, the more rebacks and fakes stand out.

Be well Brian

Posted By: MW
Brian offers some good advice. Keep in mind that no two cards (T206s) are exactly the same size, so even if one half is trimmed to fit the other, the back and front will never properly fit. That's why there's so much edge wear -- it is an attempt on the part of the fraud perpetrator to create a more exact "match" between the two halves.

I really think more is made of the deceptive nature of rebacking (in these cases) than is necessary. When these fabricated cards are viewed in person, I think it's obvious that something is amiss.

Posted By: leon
I consider Rich K. a good hobby friend and this is no slam on him but I spoke to the President of Beckett ( not Dr. Beckett ) when their holdered card was on ebay and didn't get a very confidence inspiring answer. I wanted to buy it and if it wasn't good they would reimburse me, was my proposal. I didn't think they would want their name on an expensive fake. They said that their stance was, and is, it's a good card until proven otherwise. We had a fairly long exchange about it. An ex-employee, whom I will not name, was also somewhat appalled at the explanation too. They don't need to grade early vintage cards imo..Let 'em stick with the shiny stuff.......regards

Posted By: dan mckee
I am with Leon, Beckett is a JOKE in the PRE-WAR market. Prices are a JOKE and their grading is a JOKE. Stick to the shiny trash that is only kept alive by legal gambling. Dan.

Posted By: Elliot
As I said at the time, Beckett's stance was shameful. Anybody can make a mistake, it's how you correct the mistake that shows what you are. SGC, PSA, and GAI would have bought that card back in a heartbeat.
