Great to be here!
Posted By: Eric
Greetings to all and happy new year! Well, at the ripe old age of 36, I have decided to get into vintage bb card collecting from scratch. (I might be crazy) I have enjoyed reading all of your posts as everyone seems very friendly and hepful here. I hope I can count on some of you to help guide me through the muddy waters of ebay! I have started to put together a 53 Topps set and a 35 Goudey set and I can't wait to start on tobacco cards!(where in the world do I start?) As I am on somewhat of a budget, card condition is not of utmost importance to me. I love the used card look and feel anyway! If anyone has any dupes or lower grade cards for sale or trade, let me know. Thanks and it's good to be here.

Eric

p.s any opinons on groups like VCT and OBC?

Posted By: jay behrens
Welcome to the board. Your 2 best options for T cards are t206s, which are abundant, but will take a while to get close to a complete set minus the toughies, and the t201 set which is very affordable and is a very managable 50 card set with nothing really tough to find. The Daugherty/Lord is tough card, but it's not tough on the level of the rare t207s and or even the tough t206s like Demmit, O'Hara, etc

Jay

Wow upside down is Mom. Posted By: leon
You might look into the T212 Obaks....they are really colorful, have great poses, and can be collected on a fairly tight budget. Many times you can get nice cards for under $20.......otherwise T206 is good as collector grade cards are still reasonable (minus the big HOF's)....good luck

Posted By: Josh K.
Eric,

Welcome - as a 37 year old who got back into collecting about 2 years ago (and vintage collecting about one year ago) I know where you are coming from. I have found t206's to be a great set to begin collecting. I also really like the 33 and 34 Goudey's and various caramel cards.
