Posted By: <b>PASJD</b><p>Is it just me, or does the card bear no resemblance at all either to the Johnson portrait or to any other card depicting Johnson or photograph of Johnson? And for that matter I have always thought the same thing about the Eddie Collins, I see no resemblance at all to the player depicted on the T205 and other cards which do look like his photographs.

Posted By: <b>Scott</b><p>Adam, please send me a scan if you don't mind.<br /><br />I don't know much about e107's - I've never owned any and I don't remember seing any familiar images among those posted here by board members.<br /><br />Regarding T3's, yes, it's frustrating when I see a T3 "painting" that clearly is based on a larger portion of the same photo as its t206 counterpart - I would love to see all the photos the T3's are based on. I have a few of them, but not many.<br /><br />Another section of that web-site is dedicated to "origins" of other color litho cards, but I haven't done much with it yet.

Not sure if Pete Calderon's site had one in the past.

Posted By: <b>Josh K.</b><p>This may be getting a bit off topic, but I think the difference b/t Johnson's T206 portrait and the T207 brown background card is much more pronounced than the difference b/t the two T206's. The T207 looks nothing at all like any other pictures of him.

I might be biased because my copy is high grade and is one of the most valuable cards in my collection, but I think it is really a beautiful card. I always liked it more than the portrait, though that has grown on me over the years. When I get home tonight I will compare the images.<br />JimB

Posted By: <b>PASJD</b><p>I continue to see no resemblance at all whether in terms of hair color, facial features, or anything else. That is NOT Johnson in my opinion. It would be interesting to know the origin of the card, but that is probably lost to history.

Posted By: <b>Scott</b><p>I doubt I would recognize most photos that were used for that set, but if some of you want to send high-quality scans of the photos when you find them (not the cards yet), I will add a page to my site and start working on it.<br /><br />BTW, if you don't have a copy of "Classic Baseball Cards", you are missing out. I use it to i.d. cards when I see fuzzy scans of big lots on ebay or elsewhere - it came in real handy last year when I was bidding on some large t207 lots and couldn't read the player names.

Posted By: <b>Josh K.</b><p>I agree with Jim B. I really like the hands at chest card - perhaps because it was the first T206 I ever purchased. I just recently won a Johnson Portrait card (which I have also always liked). It will be interesting to see if my feelings change once I get the portrait.

Posted By: <b>Scott</b><p>Different artists were used to create the cards in the t206 set. <br /><br />It's sort of fun to try and group your cards "by artist". Some of the "action pose" artists had their own funky background techniques,etc., while the ones who handled the portraits seemed to just colorize the b&w photos, but it's obvious that wasn't the case with most of the action shots - some might even be line drawings not based on photos. The Claude Ritchey card looks like it might be the only one done by that particular artist. Of course it's all speculation, but another aspect of what makes this set so interesting.
