T206 Cubs Portraits Questions
Posted By: warshawlaw
I am working on Cubs portraits with the "Cubs" on shirt. I was looking at them last night and was wondering about the following, if anyone can help:

Is the Steinfeldt card meant to have an orange background and is there a red one?

Is the Overall card meant to have a yellowish to orange blended background?

Are the red background cards typically with shade variations and if so what shade of red is "normal"? Most of mine would be best characterized as cherry red or firetruck red but I have one or two that are pinker looking.

T206 Cubs Portraits Questions
Posted By: Dan koteles
Adam- Merry Christmas !

I have collected these for years and have had so many.

Steinfeldt- Orangish red, favoring orange, beautiful like the sunset.
Overall- Just like the above mentioned.
Tinker- Red
Chance- Red and yellow/ orange
Kling - Red
Evers - green
M.Brown- Red...if any are a lighter red or a smidgeon of pink shading, it is just faded. There maybe a few out there that could have been raw colored and different.

Ive tried to hawk as many as possible, I ran into a few different colored Red version Cobbs, some label them as Orange back to give it a little more distinction.
I do not recall them fetching anymore money.

If you need help, I maybe able to do so, but have drastically reduced them all.

The Tinker was my favorite and I did have 17, now down to my very best, I have 7 all better then psa5 ,I can stare at them for hours. (boring hah)?

I'll try to scan you some if you want to see them. I dont have a scanner , so I'll have to use my across the street neighbors.

Good choice of collecting , this group is my absolute favorite. Email me if you have any questions or needs.
T206 Cubs Portraits Questions
Posted By: Robert
Adam
I've collected t206 cubbies for a few years.
There is always a possibility of a printing variation, but these have been pretty straightforward in my experience.
Ive never seen a red Steinfeldt or Overall.
I own 4 red chances and 5 yellows.
the reds are pretty consistent and the yellows are not.
Kling is also a deep red.
So, with the red cubs, I never see a printing pattern like that of the so-called "orange cobb."
Although I would like to see a green tinker portrait and a red evers!
robert

Posted By: warshawlaw
I can see that the "cubs" was added by the cardmaker but does anyone know whether the blue collars were part of the jersey or was that also a bit of poetic license on the part of the artist?

Robert: if you want your wish fulfilled buy an E95 Chance and an E95 Evers, which have green and red backgrounds respectively and use the same portraits as the subject matter.

Posted By: Robert A
That's true...I hadn't thought of that!
I guess I have a baby blue portrait evers as well in e90-3.

It's hard for me to say whether or not those blue collars are accurate or not looking at black and white photos.
