Funny One on Ebay
Posted By: Mark
Here's one that Ebay will soon remove, so check it out while you can. This listing should be on one of those funny segments Jay Leno often does on the Tonight Show...

The seller (with zero feedback) is listing a Ty Cobb Autograph with a cert from the J. DiMaggio Company (one of the main culprits named in Operation Bullpen). The autograph is funny enough, but check out his brief description...

"If buyer doesn't feel contempt with purchase, I will accept a full refund." I'm sure he meant to say "content", but "contempt" is actually a more descriptive choice of word!

http://cgi.ebay.com/Ty-Cobb-autograph-w-certificate-of-authenticity_W0QQitemZ270343627047QQcmdZViewItemQQ ptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item270343627047&_t rksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A3%7 C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

Posted By: Mark
His other current listing is almost as good. For the Rocky Marciano autograph, his description reads, "I also took it to a guy many years ago, and he concluded it was real".

Good thing he took it to "a guy". I will now feel much more at ease bidding, knowing it has rock-solid provenance like that.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Rocky-Marciano-autograph-w-certificate-of-authenticity_W0QQitemZ270343626312QQcmdZViewItemQQ ptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item270343626312&_t rksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A 2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

Posted By: barrysloate
Even if these items are real, which is a great stretch, what connects those COA's to the pieces being auctioned? It just says "we guarantee this postcard..." Which postcard?
