Holy Cow Droppings!
Posted By: Josh Siegel
Does anyone live in the Baltimore area? I just stumbled across an auction in Glen Burnie, MD that features the estate of Josh Johnson. Here is the link. I hope someone lives in the general area

http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/auctionview.cgi?lid=497530&kwd=sports&zip=44081&ca tegory=0

Holy Cow Droppings!
Posted By: Dan Bretta
There doesn't look to be a single thing that looks to be an original item used in a negro league game. The original period photos are not baseball related...some of it is interesting, but I'm wondering if some of the "good" items were held back or are being sold elsewhere.

Posted By: jamie
the auction is close to my work so i stopped by afterward to see the items in person. the paper lots were mostly newspaper articles and photocopies. none of the original photos contained any baseball content- the baseball photos were all recent copies. most of the autographs were bleeding heavily and the multi-signed balls were facsimile sigs. that's the ugly part. the good part is that there a couple of nice football and basketball photographs, a beautiful vintage football sweater and some nice awards and trophies presented by a few colleges and mlb teams. i also some northern league and mid-west league baseballs.

i also spoke with the owner of the auction. she said the items came from an unclaimed storage unit so this isn't really an estate sale- the gems weren't held back, they simply weren't there.

Posted By: jamie
I ended up winning three items from the sale. The photograph is from the 1939 Cheyney State Teacher's College football team. The unidentified person is obviously Josh Johnson. The ribbon and medal were given to him from the Braves.
