A little uniform identification help

Posted By: dstudeba
Hi, I offered the below card on the BST page and someone asked if the he was pictured as a Boston Brave or a New York Giant. I have no idea which one of those clubs it is or if it is another club. Any thoughts are appreciated, thanks!

A little uniform identification help

Posted By: Paul Carek
If you check out the "Dressed to the Nines" section for Gowdy (go to his page on baseball-reference.com and scroll all the way down), you'll see that Boston had a patch on the left breast from 1915-1920 (instead of a B). My guess is that on the card, he's in a Boston road uniform from that era.

A little uniform identification help

Posted By: dstudeba
Thanks!! I checked on VCP, and it looks like this E120 Americal Carmel card might have been from the same photo shoot and shows the circular Braves patch better. Also VCP dates the V100 issue from 1922 which he played only for the Braves instead of 1923 where he split the season.

(image from VCP)
