My new pennant and me.
Posted By: Mike H
I went to the National with this as my number one priority. Alas, there were none to be found. I did however, acquire this one last week from the original owner. As you can see, I'm on a pennant kick.

[IMG][/IMG]

My new pennant and me.
Posted By: Mike H
Thanks fellas. It's an ebay pick up. It's actually not a big pennant 8x24 not including the tassles. Ive seen it a few times in major auctions and once or twice over the years on ebay. I just love the pennant on it and the names. Something special about Gehrig and Dimaggio on the same piece...class.

Posted By: Shawn Chambers
Mike,

That pennant is beautiful!! Man, be great to see that everyday. Gehrig is my favorite player of all time and it is cool to see his name juxtaposed with Dimaggio...what a beauty!

Congrats on a great pickup.

Shawn

Posted By: Mike H
Shawn. You should consider this pinback of Gehrig.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1937-LOU-GEHRIG-N-Y-YANKEES-PIN-BUTTON-WITH-PENNANT_W0QQitemZ200142325808QQihZ010QQcategoryZ50 128QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Posted By: Shawn Chambers
Oh my brain considered it...but my wallet threatened my life!! Unfortunately, there is no way I could ever afford it, but it, too, is a great looking pennant.

Posted By: Joe K.

Fantastic pennant Mike! Congrats on the pick up.

I just got back from vacation. The family and I were in Disney World for a week. My two girls (Emily 9 and Sara 5) loved it. I loved it too! We left last Saturday and just got back this evening - so I am doing a lot of catch up on email and ebay. I didn't bring my laptop so I went a whole week with no email and no ebay - ouch!!
My new pennant and me.
Posted By: Mark Steinberg
Mike:

Congrats on this great pennant. This has always been one of my favorites. They also made a nearly identical one, which simply proclaims the Yankees as "Winners!" (with no names). You definitely got the better of the two, but the other one has a real charm about it as well. I have both (framed), and as I recall, there is a cloth tag sewn to the back of both.

Have you seen Hunt Auctions' current Lot #171a... the 1936 Yankees Champs Pennant? Its another nice one, but I am not sure it really depicts Ruth (and their estimate is awfully high).

Posted By: Mike H
I did see that pennant, and don't believe it to be Ruth. I also agree the estimate is quite high. The Champions pennant is interesting, but when I've seen it at with dealers the price has been rediculous. There was a nice Yankee pennant on ebay a couple weeks ago that Dave Bushing won that I wish I had gone higher on. Oh well. Any Cubs pennants in your collection Mark?

Posted By: Chris Counts
That's a real beauty ... I couldn't help but notice that Red Ruffing and Tommy Henrich are missing, while journeymen/bit players like Roy Johnson and Pat Malone are included on it ...
