Vintage Basketball scorecard
Posted By: Alan Elefson
Hi-
I recently found this vintage basketball scorecard at a local flea market (please see scans below). Was this common for high schools or prep schools to print a scorecard with a team photo like this? Any idea as to the approximate year of issue? I would greatly appreciate any information you might be able to provide related to this piece, or ones similar. Please also feel free to post your vintage basketball scorecards.
Thanks in advance,
Alan Elefson
aelefson@hotmail.com

Posted By: Alan Elefson
David-
The ball does not appear to have laces. The ball and shorts are similar to ones depicted in a team photo (different school, scanned below) from 1917 that I picked up last weekend. So my guess would be teens, but it could be later because I am not sure when they changed out of the lace up style long shorts (at least by the late 1940s it changed). Thank you very much for your dating tool. When did they stop using laces on basketballs?
Alan Elefson
aelefson@hotmail.com
