1908 Army Photo Calendar

Posted By: Dan Bretta
My brother picked this up at a local antique mall for me today. Anyone ever seen this or one like it? It has a "lenticular like" surface to the photo on it which at first bothered me because I didn't think that the lenticular design was around in 1908, but with a little help from Google I found that 1908 was the year it was introduced. It doesn't have any "3-D" effect at all though so I'm not sure why the lenticular design was used here. The maker was J. Wm. Shaw of Philadelphia who I found out also made pinback buttons.

edited to add:
David (cycleback), I just noticed that you have one exactly like this except for Dickinson College on your website. Does yours have the same type of surface to the photo and was it made by the same maker? Thanks.

I no longer have it, and don't recall the photo being reticular-- but it was thick and with a unusual surface. Maybe it was early reticular, I don't know.

I owned it about six years ago, and have seen only perhaps three or four others since then (No Army).
