Posted By: Crit Van Tuyl
Hello,

Searched high and low for Vintage guys. Is this the place? I am wondering what you guys think of the new naxcom promotion the "Vintage Invitational". Its kind of a bracketology approach to a promotion.

Check out the details here: http://www.naxcom.com/New/vintage.html

Posted By: hankron
I've always found the goo goo eyed celebration of auction and sales totals ("SMR: MastroNet breaks own record of $13 million") to be lame. That's just my opinion, disagree with it if you wish.

Posted By: Patrick McMenemy
If this promotion helps collectors get better prices then I'm all for it.

However, with that being said, the list of 32 entrants is not exactly a "Who's Who" of top dealers in my humble opinion.

My money is on TIK & TIK.

Posted By: John/z28jd
Actually David Levin still has a large amount of theose OJs left from the oregon find,i would say 2/3rds,plus he had a huge inventory before that anyway.Him vs BWMcards is an interesting first round matchup

Maybe its just me,but how vintage are some of these people really, theres only 2 people on that list im sure ive bought a card from, and 2 others i think i have bought from on ebay but im not sure.A possible 4 out of 64 isnt a high percent

Posted By: Aaron M.
This has to be one of the lamest, most needlessly complicated (or I guess just uninteresting), promotions conceived in the hobby. Big, ugly blinking pop-ups for some sort of "game" that people are supposed to follow with any sort of interest as if it means something?

BTW, i really liked the "plant" post to start the thread. Do you really think collectors are that dumb? (Well, with all modern junk bought and sold out there, maybe you're not so far off on that one.)

Maybe you should stick to booking porn stars for your baseball card shows.

Posted By: Chuck-17
I think the contest is a great idea. Even if you are not concerned with who wins the fact that the sellers are going head to head for $10,000 is sure to make them list their cards at lower prices. I am going to keep checking because the farther they get into the contest the lower the prices will go. It just seems like a good opportunity to pick up some vintage at good prices.
