Posted By: <b>Mark</b><p>No record of selling before, no card purchases to speak of, private auction, one day sale, buy-it-now for less than half SMR, the wrapper too....<br /><br />What a deal, it screams out 'scam!'<br /><br />Offer to buy them now - in person - cash in hand; then wait for the excuses as to why the seller can't meet you.

But, when the auction is closed, the seller/scammer e-mails you and says, "gee, I'm sorry, I didn't get your e-mail until after the auction was over, but if you'd like to buy it outside of ebay, just send me a check for $X." The seller/scammer does this with every person who asks to be put on the pre-approved buyers list, and if he scams just one person he gets a nice little sum of cash. If he scams a hundred people, he can retire to the Caribean. The idea is to used ebay to scam people without leaving a record of such on ebay -- so ebay won't be able to come after them, you'll be forced to do it yourself. <br /><br /><br /><br />

Posted By: <b>ramram</b><p>they hijack accounts with fake "phish" mailings. They get a legit account with strong feedback. Nobody suspects there is anything wrong with the seller that way. Then theyy do their dirty work before ebay has time to react to the stolen account.

Posted By: <b>Judge Dred</b><p>1 day auction<br /><br />Pre approval before bidding<br /><br />Unrealistic low price <br /><br />Don't waste your time because you know you're going to get an email from some idiot trying to sell you more stuff at ridiculously low prices and you're going to get ripped off if you send any funds. The saddest part of this scam is that the person knows that people realize that they're pulling a scam. This person is only trying to find one or more people that are oblivious/ignorant to this fact because a thousand dollars here and a thousand dollars there add up fairly quickly. <br /><br />This person probably reads this board and they probably laugh at us becuase they know there is always another victim to be made. Who ever this person is need only remember that "what goes around, comes around" and one of these days it's going to catch up to them in one form or another. <br /><br />
