Elation and Deflation

Posted By: Max
I'm sure others have had similar stories. I purchased a large number of books (what else?) at auction. After feeling I had overpaid for a box of ratty books, I found this snapshot of Babe attached at the back of a book--and signed to boot. Elation. For the moment, until I looked closely (or more appropriately, until my friend took great pleasure in pointing out) that the Ruth signature was legitimate perhaps only in pencil underneath the tracing over in pen. Perhaps "Babo" should also have been a clue to me. It was a neat and one of a kind picture anyway, thus the matting and framing.
