Posted By: Tbob
O.K. fellow collectors, what do you think PSA graded this card. (Hint, I am not one of the in-crowd nor a "heavy hitter" just a collector.

Posted By: Judge Dred
The scan provided shows little detail but I can pick out what appears to be a crease in the lower third on the left hand side and I was wondering, is there any paper loss near the name?

It looks like it could be a 3 but without more details it could have been graded lower. Paper loss (or just about any paper damage) will keep it graded (by PSA) to no greater than 2 and in a lot of cases, a 1.

I can't wait to find out the grade....

Posted By: Casey
That seems to be a heavy crease noticeable on both front and back, but the corners are in nice shape and the back is really clean. My natural guess would have been a 3, but based on the amusement here, I'm going with a 3.5. Sometimes they stamp a 4 on a card with pretty good wear if it has a great picture and color, just a bit tough to tell from the scan.

Posted By: Scott Cowan
I think from looking at the card that it will have been given a 2.

However they most likely gave it a 5 and said it was a Sandy Koufax rookie card

Posted By: leon
and "maybe" this is one of those all too familiar atrocities I will say a 5.

From the scans, and taking into consideration the corners, I would grade it a 2-3 ....closer to a 3.
later

Posted By: Scott Elkins
I once had a T206 BL 350 with a much larger crease directly in the MIDDLE of the card (visible on front and back) that was graded a PSA 6!!!!!!!! Of course, it was NOT one I had sent in - must have been an auction house submittal!

Posted By: tbob

BTW- The "y" in Haley doesn't have paper loss, it is just a faded letter. The crease lower left looks worse in the scan, at first glance the card appears to be at least a "3" and I was disappointed but could have lived with a "2" but a "1"? I have seen cards that had chunks torn off or looked like they traveled through someone's digestive tract that were 1s and I have seen some pretty horrible looking 2s come out of PSA.
Just don't get it, maybe a name change is in order. How about TMastro?

Posted By: warshawlaw
comparisons of how crappy a 1 is are not very useful. A 1 is the lowest grade. By definition, everything that stinks falls into it, regardless of whether it is bad, worse or worst of all.

Posted By: Lee Behrens
But TBob's Obak doesn't stink just the grade. i believe the grading companies could be more specific on lower end grades. There are plenty of collectors out there that do not collect high end stuff only low end and more affordable to most everyones budget.

By the Way Bob, are you going to let the Haley card go for a "Fair" price.

Posted By: TBob
from completing the set. I have had about 25 of the cards graded, 5 by PSA, a few by SGC and most by GAI. I am contemplating completing the set and then selling it as a set by consignment or card by card on ebay. The problem is the last 5 may or may not ever show up. Perhaps you'll see a near set in an auction near you soon
