George Capron from T212 Obaks

Posted By: Chuck Ross
I was perusing some old editions of the Card Collectors Bulletin written by Buck Barker in the 1960's and saw something that might be of interest to folks on the board. In the September 1964 issue, Barker writes that George Capron, a pitcher shown with Vancouver on the T212 Obaks, was being sued for divorce by his wife, with whom he had been married since 1909. Maybe the reason was money. Barker writes that Capron, then aged 79, told him he used to be "a simple baseball player", but now had $30 million in properties. Barker mentions Capron in another issue of CCB in 1966. Seems like Capron could make money but had trouble holding onto it. Barker writes that Capron lost his wallet on the way to Huntington Beach with over $189,000 in it.

Chuck R
