Here's a true classic....
Posted By: Hankron
Considering, the sellers never actually call them cards, I'm always surprised that some bidders don't wonder what the item is.

A conversation involving a potential buyer with a reasonable i.q. goes something like the follows.

Collector: "But what is it? Is it a card? Is it some sort of stamp or decal?"
Roy Huff : "It's a 1911 Spalding"
Collector : "I don't understand. It's a Spalding What?'
Roy Huff: "It's a 1911 Spalding. 100% authentic and graded for your safety."
Collector : "But what is it?"

Here's a true classic....
Posted By: Hankron
With some regularity, I ask seller questions-- usually on the order of, 'Is it a real photo or print?', 'Is it original or at otherwise vintage,' 'Do you know who made these or where they came from?' ... While honest sellers will sometimes not be able to answer a question, if I seller repeats the same overly-vague statment as in the auction or otherwise gives a beat-around-the-bush answer (does a lot of talking, but doesn't actually address your question), this generally indicates that the seller has an answer to your question but doesn't want you to know the answer.

Examples:

Collector : "Is this item vintage? You don't give any indication to it's age"
Seller : "The rains in Spain fall mainly in the plain."
Hanks' translation : The item is not vintage

Here's a true classic....
Posted By: runscott
Somewhere on the label it would say something like:

"from page 107 of "Spaldings Official Base Ball Record - 1911"

Here's a true classic....
Posted By: Hankron
COLLECTOR: "But what is it really?"
ROY HUFF : "It's a 1911 Spalding. 100% authenticated and graded for your safety."
TRANSLATION OF HUFF'S STATEMENT : "If I told you what it really was, you wouldn't bid on it."

Here's a true classic....
Posted By: ramram
ought to forward the latest story on Koos/Dupcak to Huff and this guy. Only goes to show that these kind of people spiral in one direction.

Here's a true classic....
Posted By: brian p
Actually the direction of the spiral depends on whether they reside in the Northern or Southern hemisphere...but either way it is down the toilet.

Brian
