To Snipe or Not to Snipe
Posted By: deadballera
I'm sure most of us have been victims of when our sniping services have issues where our bids do NOT get placed. This cannot be predicted.....but very frustrating.

Thoughts ?

To Snipe or Not to Snipe
Posted By: runscott
I used to be great at last-second manual snipes, but lately I've lost several items that I'm sure I could have won if my dsl hadn't crapped out at the last second.

Auction Sniper worked fantastic for me, and I'm tempted to go back to it - do others feel it is safe to give these guys your ebay information?

Posted By: Keith O'Leary
Yes Scott,

I've gone back to using AuctionSniper again. Paid for a year in advance right before the hacking incident (although I in no way let that dictate my decision), .

Changed all my passwords and put my trust back in their hands (its just too easy to forget about something unless you're as vigilant as a computer program, I'm not).

Not to mention I've lost so many items trying to be last minute "Slick Willy" due to the same ISP pitfalls. Wonder if DSL would be any better for me? Nah.......AuctionStealer is cheaper and I spend enough time in front of a compuer screen here at work.

Keith

To Snipe or Not to Snipe
Posted By: Keith O'Leary
add to any confusion between AuctionStealer and AuctionSniper (I belong to both BTW).

AuctionStealer requires an up front "fixed amount" membership option with unlimited bidding.

AuctionSniper gets your money when you win an ebay item (you don't pay unless you win, minimum charge is .25 maximum I believe is $5.00).

Sorry all, Keith

Posted By: mrc32
Esnipe is the way to go. I've used it for about a year and has never failed me. I bid for everything I really want through esnipe.

**This is not a paid endorsement**

LOL

To Snipe or Not to Snipe
Posted By: Julie Vognar
a very small amount when you DO win--otherwise, no money changes hands. By the way, I TRIED to clear out of Auctionstealer when they got crashed, but they're still charging me by the month, with Pay Pal's help. I've written them several times saying I don't want their services anymore...
I saw stealthbid.com recommended by Bruesco (sp?)--thought I'd give it a go. They have some pretty sophisticated bidding equipment. I've asked for a 5 second buffer, and always get it--I suppose they'd do 4, but they don't recommend it (inclined to agree).

To Snipe or Not to Snipe
Posted By: Brueso
I gave auction stealer another try after they cleared themselves up briefly, but they went down again.

Funny thing is that while I used to think auction stealer's set $5 fee was cheaper than paying a fee based on a winning bid like stealth bid does, I've lately found that it's been cheaper for me than the blanket $5/month. Which may mean I'm not bidding on as high ticket items as I once was or as many, I don't know, but I'm content w/stealth bid.
