They even won one against the Twins this year after losing 16 in a row.

The Twins happened to play the Yanks when they were hot this year. Those old guys now have a full season under there belt and will run out of gas. We can only hope that Milton is ready to fill a staarting spot.

Lee

Posted By: Todd
While I have alot of respect for the Bombers and they are one of my 3 favorite teams, I have absolutely no fear and of them and no doubt that the Twins can take them out. Remember the vaunted A's last year--their three stud starters are better than any three the Yanks can put out there, and they went down.

Maybe Bud Selig will let Pete Rose participate in a tribute to the 1980 Phils and we can all restart the "reinstate Pete Rose" discussions. We need Rose to help the TV ratings when "small market" Philly is playing Oakland or Minnesota or Kansas City in the World Series (i.e., no "large market" team like NY or Boston or Chicago).

If not the Phillies, then someone other than the Yankees (or else let them get hammered by some underdog NL team).

Posted By: B Kaz
That "cream-puff" schedule the Twins have remaining is the same "cream-puff" schedule Chicago and KC had this year. The Twins were able to put away some of the upper tier teams that the Sox and Royals couldn't. They all play the same schedule during the year.

Thanks to Lee for taking me down memory lane with the Twins song, except now it's stuck in my head.

Posted By: Rob M
After last night's loss I'm giving my concession speech. With seven games left against Chicago there was still a glimmer of hope. But no....the big talking White Sox had to fold up. Now the Twinkies can walk away with it while the Royals and Chicago duke it out with each other. I'll now throw my hat in the small market corner....Go Twins!

With 7 of our last 9 games against the Tigers it's only a matter of days, hopefully Tuesday when I'm at the Game. . Posted By: runscott
The Twins have 2 of the top 10 "deep-fly" pitching specialists: Radke is 2nd in the AL (HR's allowed) with 32, and Lohse is 10th with 26. Radke's era is 4.67,Lohse's 4.73, so I guess letting the batter smack it deep has somewhat adverse effects on your ERA.

Although these two Twin "Aces" are both winning now, I think the Twins may need to find a "pop-up to the infield" pitcher come play-off time...BTW, both of these guys are a little weak in the K department

Posted By: Mike
Living in Chicago and not being a Cub or Sox fan, I have to say I would rather see the Cubs get in the playoffs before the Sox this year due to the fact the Sox appear to not have any desire to be playing in October. Watching them play the last series against the Twins was pathetic. " The Big Skirt" Frank Thomas hasn't had a big hit all September, Robbie Alomar and Carl Everett appear to be sleeping, and Jerry Manuel should have been fired right after the Yankee series for saving Buehrle for the TIGERS because " we had already won the series". Terrible. Give credit to the Twins who seem to turn it on when they have to and overachieving every year.

Posted By: TBob
Eric the Red Milton back off a season long injury picked up his first win of the season, pitching 7 shutout innings and giving up only 2 hits. Right now the Twins' starting pitching staff of Radke/Santana/Lohse/Milton/Rogers is as good as any in the AL. The Twins have overcome a long June slumber and some pretty questionable managing to get hot at the right time.
"We're gonna win Twins, We're gonna score, We're gonna win Twins, Watch that baseball soar, Crack out a home run, Shout a hip hooray, Cheer for the Minnesota Twins today!" Hardin showed he is a rook and has been inconsistent. The two best pitching staffs in the AL are the Yanks with Clemens, Mussina, Contrerras, Petit and Wells and the Twins with Santana, Radke, Milton, Lohse and Rogers.
The Twins have the best record in all of baseball since the All-Star break and have won when they had to, including 5 straight against the White Sox when the season was on the line. The Yanks couldn't do that. Besides, the Twins OWN the A's this year. Posted By: Squeals to the trough
The boys from Boston are out for blood! Win, lose, or lose in the final minutes of a crucial playoff or World Series game, I have to put all my faith in the Sox, as I do every year. They always keep me at the edge of my seat. Any team that can come as close as they have, as many times as they have, only to crash and burn in the final moments as they have and then come back every year with their heads held high, has got to be admired. Besides, watching the Yankees make the Series every year is starting to get redundant. It's becoming a chore just to watch them, like taking out the trash or doing my taxes.
