Question about SCD for posters here
Posted By: TBob
I quit subscribing to SCD some years ago after having been a subscriber for a long time, because there just weren't many articles nor ads for vintage cards. Everything was chase cards, brand new overpriced stuff and beanie babies. Have things changed at all? Is it worth it to get a subscription to SCD again if you collect only vintage stuff?

Question about SCD for posters here
Posted By: Keith O'Leary
My thoughts are echoed here too TBob. Haven't been an SCD subscriber for 5 years or so now, and don't miss it at all. I was giving it the same status as junk mail towards the end. K
Question about SCD for posters here
Posted By: Tom Boblitt
for me but I keep clinging to the hope that my $39.95 subscription will get me into some kind of deal that's worthwhile. The mag itself is down to about the thinnest it's been in years. It does have the occasional auction pamphlet that I wouldn't otherwise get but if you don't get it, you really don't miss TOO much. They have had a few articles (key word FEW) lately and it's always heartening to see them continually bash the National while uplifting the widely unattended Sportsfest shows in what could only be considered self-serving, non-biased, no conflict of interest moves..............

Question about SCD for posters here
Posted By: runscott
I made it a mission to find a copy. When I finally did (45 minute drive) I almost laughed when I saw it. I was too late to get the one with the OJ article, but the issue I picked up was thin, half ads, and had almost nothing in it worth reading - even some of the articles looked more like advertisements. But on the plus side - it had some auction previews that were good.

Posted By: warshawlaw
I agree with most of the criticisms above, but I find enough ads that have stuff I need or occasional articles that are of interest to make it worthwhile to keep it.

Question about SCD for posters here
Posted By: julie
I look for Conlon's ads, once in a while a show schedule, the obituaries--jeez--there really isn't hardly anything, is there?

On the other hand, when the yearly Standard Catalogue comes out, I hang a "Keep Out!" sign on my door for a couple of hours, l look at the new cards, the old mistakes, the price trends Lemke THINKS are afloat, occasional corrected errors, rare sets growing--it's a real GAS.
