Even the minor league players had their gloves custom made to their directions. I have a lot of players glove contracts and commonly the player wrote directly on the contract contract the specifications and models of the gloves they wanted. Interestingly, part of 1930s Red Sox player Dale Alexander's contract includes him receiving golf balls.

How do you get a baseball glove made with your name on it?
Posted By: Brian C Daniels
Ironically, there used to be this old wheel chair riddled man named Charlie Rose that custom made gloves for several major league players in the 60's and early 70's that owned a batting cage baseball equipment shop here close to San Francisco. I have seen Willie Mays and McCovey,Cepeda and Gene Tenace with is gloves.I bought one and also purchased a "Nokoma" "AMG-400" 2-b glove in which he would engrave your signature into the glove just like the custom gloves he made for pro players. It surely was a psychological performance enhancer. Charlie died at a ripe old age some 14 years ago but they still use his name to sponsor the local little league & high school uniform shop.

Charlie Rose Baseball & Softball Equipment & U 408-378-7195 412 E Campbell Ave Campbell CA 95008
