2004 Standard Catalog --Release date?

Posted By: Bob Lemke
The latest internal schedule shows we're expecting the 2004 SCBC to ship on Sept. 23. I'm not sure that date will hold, however, as I still have not OK'd the bluetones from the printer.

Posted By: halleygator
Is there ever any chance that your publication will recognize "cards" like these now that PSA is grading them? If so, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

[img][/img]

[img][/img]

2004 Standard Catalog --Release date?

Posted By: Adam J. Baxter
Halleygator,
Is PSA just slabbing cabinets with well-known players/teams or commercial cabinets or do they slab all 19th century baseball cabinets? Reason I ask is because I have 3 1894-96 New England League Fall River Indians cabinets. Two feature the shortstop D.E. Reilly (don't think he ever made the majors) and the other is a team cabinet that features at least one id'd Major League/Professional player: Fred Klobedanz I'm really concerned about preservation as New England League items are a bit tough to come across and if I could have them slabbed, I would. Any info regarding PSA and their cabinet slabbin' would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Adam

Posted By: halleygator
That is a good question that I cannot answer for you.

I always call PSA and confirm that they will slab before I send ... so I think you should do the same.

If you call and ask to speak to a vintage grader, they can help you out.

www.psacard.com

Posted By: Adam J. Baxter
I'll give them a call. I wonder if SGC does the same or will be soon. Does PSA charge the same rate for grading and submission as cards or is it more?

Posted By: Bob Lemke
The Standard Catalog has listed several types of team cabinets, CDVs, etc., in the recent past, including the 1873 Boston. Whether or not PSA or any other grading company "recognizes" them is not relevant. My main concern is utilizing the finite number of pages available to me in the manner in which the greatest number of catalog buyers will profit. My current thinking is that since the universe of "team photo" type issues is so broad as to preclude comprehensive coverage in the book, listings of such items will be frozen and, in future editions, probably scaled back. Some may be moved to future editions of the SC of Sports Memorabilia, but that's a decision for another editor.

Posted By: Bob Lemkle
Yes, your wait will continue. As of this morning corrections were still being made to PDF files incorrectly transmitted from us to the printer or corrupted in the process. A final, and thorough, check of all 1,704 pages must follow.
