Something very rare and quite attractive...
Posted By: Patrick McMenemy
I have always enjoyed the B18 set. Tough to beat this beautiful example...http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewItem&item=274113 9105&indexURL=0&photoDisplayType=2

Posted By: Jeff O
That is a very tough and very nice item. I've collected the B18 set for some time, and I can tell you that all brown infields are tough, and that one is a beauty. I also think the minimum bid would be a steal... if I didn't have one already I'd definately go for it.

Jeff
http://www.seattlehockey.net
Posted By: MW
BcD -- are you stalking Julie?

On the topic of this thread, I've noticed that some B18s still have the paper "band" attached. I wonder why the price guides don't indicate a slight premium for this phenomenon since I infrequently encounter it and some advanced collectors seem to enjoy this curiosity. Also, I've often wondered about the color choice of black printing on a dark blue background (e.g., Chance, New York). Surely, a better color scheme could have been chosen.

Posted By: runscott
The blankets were in virtually perfect condition and many of them (maybe 1/3) had intact 1-3 inch pieces of the band still attached - the seller had about 30 of them as I remember. One of my most regrettable mistakes on ebay bidding was not bidding higher - I won NONE of them!

Posted By: Jon Canfield
I have a dead-mint Jackson B-18 and now after reading these posts, I am pretty sure mine still has the band attached. I need to go dig it out and check now - it's been years since I last looked at it.

Posted By: B Kaz
How many different players are represented in this set? I know there are different variations for each one, but if I were to look at a list, appx how many would you expect to see?

Posted By: Jeff O
There are 90 players in the set, plus one name spelling variation (Cavanaugh/Kavanaugh). Each player is known with at least two color variations. Two teams (Detroit... and I forget the other) are also known with a third red infield color variation, although those are incredibly rare.

Most collectors consider the set "complete" at 181 - two color variations of the 90 players, plus the Kavanaugh (only one color variation known).

Jeff
http://www.seattlehockey.net
Posted By: Patrick McMenemy
I'm amazed that there has yet to be a bid on this item. Is it the price? or Is it the relatively low feedback rating (30) of the seller? Or are the snipers putting on their scopes, and getting ready for a battle at the end of the auction?

Posted By: Hankron
My experience is that you can't make good judgement on the bidding in an eBay auction until the auction is finished. What the high bid is on day 1 or 3 of 5 often means nothing.
