Posted By: Wayne Grove
Believe it or not these are more than just Frank Nagy’s business cards. They could actually be called some of the very first reprint cards. Nagy- as “The Sport Hobbyist”-had a series of these cards printed up and they were sent to new subscribers of “The Sport Hobbyist” in the mid 1960’s. They were called “The Sport Hobbyist Famous Card Series” and featured B&W photos of rare cards. I remember getting some of them when I subscribed to The Sport Hobbyist way back when and since I had never seen most of those cards thought they were cool. It may also have had a little bit to do with getting me hooked on card collecting so don’t think they are so bad. They are also listed in both The Beckett Almanac of Baseball Cards and Collectibles and Bob Lemke’s Standard Catalog.
