Posted By: Julian Fernandez
Freshly back from SGC, my best pick up from the Ft. Washington Show held Feb. 28-Mar. 2. On the back of the card it says "Genuine Photograph made exclusively by The Photo Art Shop, Swampscott Mass." Enjoy!

Posted By: Julian Fernandez
a small crease on the bottom left hand side, which does not interfere with the picture, keeps this card from being graded at least EX-MT. I really don't care as much about the grade, as I do that it's authentic. I'm stoked!

Posted By: Paul
I think this same card was recently auctioned off by one of the major auction companies. Does anyone remember?

Posted By: jay berhens
Ok, now I am annoyed with SGC. I asked if they graded anthing that large and was intially told yes, but when I submitted the card, it was sent back saying they didn't grade cards that large.

Jay

Posted By: Hankron
Interesting variation, Scott.

How do trading card grading companies grade postcards with typical writing and stamping on back? Personally, I prefer a neatly written vintage note when it relates nicely to the front image (ala 'I bought this postcard at the stadium today, when we went to see the game'). I also definitely find desirable a dated PO stamp and mailing stamp on a vinage postcard. I would guess that SCD and PSA would downgrade for this kind of 'damage' but am just assuming.

Posted By: runscott
...and add that this was a joke before you examined it too closely. I got the photo from Walter Johnson's biography by Henry Thomas, added Sepia color, changed contrast, etc., then cropped the image and pasted over the other postcard image - I even modified two of the corners slightly. Though I didn't take the time to do it as well as could have been, this still illustrates the danger of buying on ebay from scans, not paying close attention to the "qualities" of the seller.

Also, I agree with you completely about grading postcards - I prefer the ones with "provenance" included on the back as well, but I can do without the USPS swervy black stamp lines on the front of some of them.
