SMOLIN AUCTION ENDS TOMORROW

Posted By: Jay Miller
I have checked the current bid levels on the Old Judge cards in this auction and there are some bargains to be had. Although a few of the lots are mine, so some of this is self serving, there are many that are not and are just cards that I have. For those on the board who collect Old Judge I would suggest that you check it out---I don't think you will be sorry.

Posted By: runscott
I was at the bookstore last night and found that "Pud" Galvin's name is short for "Pudding". He got the nickname because he made the opposing batters look like "Pudding", which was a 19th century slang term for "Dud".

I've lost friends over baseball players' nicknames. Like, I thought "Pee Wee Reese" just meant marble...so he thought I was telling him a childish dirty joke...Ah, Frank Barning.
