It's not a rare card, I've owned a few over the years. All because of the horizontal pose?

Why the high bid?

Posted By: jeff s
could it be that people think this is mordecai? the last couple bidders don't look familiar...

though even if it was mordecai, the price might be a little higher than expected...

Posted By: David
One way or the other, it's a nice looking card.

I sell a lot of photographs and it is not uncommon for relatives or simularly interested to drive up the prices. For example, if you put up a nice vintage photo of Burleigh Grimes, Harry Hooper or Chas. Gehringer, I can almost promise you that one of the bidders will be a relative.

Posted By: brian parker
...the top bidders think that because it is a horizontal card it is more difficult/desirable, as is the case in the T206 set. The T206 horizontal card are all beautiful, and are harder to come by because they are in the 150 series. And some people, myself included, think that horizontal poses offer a really unique and interesting perspective (like Matty's E92, etc.)

Although this Brown card is one step above the most common in the E90-1 set, it is not that tough to come by, and in its VG condition it is at least double what I would think it would normally sell for.

Brian

Posted By: Jim/jverri01

I was wondering why this skyrocketed, myself. I was bidding early on. It is Buster Brown, not Mordecai, but a nice card in its right.

EVEN if this is a tough card in the set - $175?

Wow.

Posted By: TBob
$133.50 is high for the card but some people just love horizontal cards. It is one of the tougher "commons" to find, probably for that reason. Maybe the buyer saw the prices for the Keeler and Joss horizontals and made a quantum leap as to value. Who knows?
