Finally - a brown back Old Mill!
Posted By: petecld
Don't break open your piggy banks just yet. Considering James's "enthusiastic" descriptions in the past I don't see him missing this chance at a bigger sale.

IMHO - That's not a brown back. Looks black to me.

I have a scan of a brown/black backs that was sent to me. I'll post it sometime this evening. The brown version is NO QUESTIONS asked brown ink. Looks like the same color brown as the brown Hindu backs.

This looks like a lightly printed black back.

Finally - a brown back Old Mill!
Posted By: Craig
This is no brown back Old Mill. Not a chance. I've owned dozens of Old Mills (mostly Southern Leaguers) that looked somewhat brown or washed-out black. They looked closer to brown than this one. I could be wrong, but I think it's somewhat of a myth - t206 urban legend if you will. It's like the different shades of green on the Sovereign backs. Certainly different shades, but also certainly green.

Finally - a brown back Old Mill!
Posted By: runscott
Didn't think I needed to telegraph my jokes, but in the future I will be sure to include a link to a "dry joke explanation page" on my web-site.

...meanwhile, Mike wins the "I can think like Scott" award, which is not really prestigious, but at least as valuable as "MLB All-Star Game MVP"

Posted By: petecld
Yeah, I missed this joke. Happens. . .

At least I didn't win the "I can think like Scott" award so the day wasn't a total loss.

Yes, I'm just kidding.

Scary to think there could be some poor guy out there who thinks like me.

Finally - a brown back Old Mill!
Posted By: Lee Behrens
James has been on a roll lately with unique listing and is not even taking advantage of the situation.

I still would like to know how he got that minute scan. I was with Scott all the way on the joke, A1 joke in my book.

Pete I do have some Brown back Old Mills to disspell the myth. :-D

Finally - a brown back Old Mill!
Posted By: Lee Behrens
Just clarify I agree with Craig, I don't believe I have and brown backs just a bunch of OM's Southern Leaguers that are more faded than normal.

Finally - a brown back Old Mill!
Posted By: runscott
Back when I didn't believe they existed, you may remember I challenged board members to produce a scan of a real one. Well, no one did, but someone who I trust emailed me with a scan of one he owns, and it looks the same color as a Brown Hindu. I don't know why he didn't post on this board - maybe he was getting a kick out of the arguing we were doing!
