Posted By: Goudey Guy (Ebay: goudeyhunter)
I can't pass up on the chance to get one at a low price, so I bid on it. After looking at Terry Knouse's Lections at the Nationals, this one looks horrible, but it is affordable. Completing a type collection can be tough...

Posted By: leon
Type collecting has it's moments.....kind of fun if you like variety...but will be impossible to complete.......if it weren't for almost unique cards it would be easier....then there's the backs, overprints etc..... ...my lone Lections is a nice looking Fritsch....with 10 holes punched around the picture.... tough card and high price......regards

Posted By: Glen V
Frank's web site has a couple pictures of Lections cards, plus pictures of lots of other type cards. Don't know how many exist. Two sold on E-bay earlier this year. Both were in pretty good shape. Can't remember the what they sold for, but think it was well over $500.

http://hometown.aol.com/kealoha707/page1.html

Just completing the T types is nearly impossible. Its hard enough getting the T208 Fireside, T214 Victory, T215 Pirate, & T217 Mono . Then you need to have the bucks for a rare T4 Obak Cabinet. Finally there's only two known Fans Tobacco (T231?).

Posted By: David
What was Lections? I assume this card was a redemption-type card to get ice cream or something. Unique and interesting design.

Posted By: goudeyhunter
even despite the holes, I think this one is a very nice example! It would be great to see someone discover a large stash of these in the near future, so that more of us rarity collectors can get one for the collection. It's hard to beleive that there's relatively no information about this issue, even though they were just discovered about 5 years ago. Aside from the fact that they seem to be a redemption card of some sort, and most likely produced in New York, does anyone else have info or theories on Lections??

Posted By: goudeyhunter
I thought Lections only featured NY players? This lends evidence that this issue is probably much bigger than reported. Is anyone else aware of other uncatagorized players in the set?
Great pic Frank!
