T205 Back Listing

Posted By: James Walker, Jr.
Thought I would start a thread about the T205 backs and a listing of most common to the most difficult. Here is a list of what I know exists. Please feel free to add any information.

American Beauty - Factory 42 - 4th Dist. - NC - Brown
American Beauty - Factory 42 - 4th Dist. - NC - Green
Cycle - Factory 25 - 2nd Dist. - VA
Hassan - Factory 30 - 2nd Dist. - NY
Hassan - Factory 649 - 1st Dist. - NY
Honest Long Cut - Factory 60 - 2nd Dist. - NY
Piedmont - Factory 25 - 2nd Dist. - VA
Polar Bear - Factory 6 - 1st Dist. - O
Sovereign - Factory 25 - 2nd Dist. - VA
Sweet Caporal - Factory 25 - 2nd Dist. - VA - Brown
Sweet Caporal - Factory 42 - 4th Dist. - NC - Brown
Sweet Caporal - Factory 42 - 4th Dist. - NC - Red

Also, I know of Broad Leaf (is it Broad Leaf or Broadleaf?) and Drum but don't have any additional information. Found a web site (stupid me, didn't bookmark and can't find it again) that had various T205 backs and I think that the Sweet Caporal - Factory 25 - 2nd Dist. - VA - Red was one. Can anyone confirm this?

Researched the backs from the Library Of Congress set and here is what it had. Listed from most cards to least cards (number of cards in parenthesis). There were no cards with either Broad Leaf or Drum backs.

Hassan - Factory 649 - 1st Dist. - NY(39)20.21%
Piedmont - Factory 25 - 2nd Dist. - VA(35)18.13%
Hassan - Factory 30 - 2nd Dist. - NY(24)12.44%
Polar Bear - Factory 6 - 1st Dist. - O(21)10.88%
Sweet Caporal - Brown - Factory 42 - 4th Dist. - NC(20)10.36%
Sweet Caporal - Red - Factory 42 - 4th Dist. - NC(18)9.33%
Honest Long Cut - Factory 60 - 2nd Dist. - NY(10)5.18%
Sweet Caporal - Brown - Factory 25 - 2nd Dist. - VA(9)4.66%
Cycle - Factory 25 - 2nd Dist. - VA(6)3.11%
American Beauty - Brown - Factory 42 - 4th Dist. - NC(4)2.07%
Sovereign - Factory 25 - 2nd Dist. - VA(4)2.07%
American Beauty - Green - Factory 42 - 4th Dist. - NC(3)1.55%

Noticed all the Minor League cards had Hassan - Factory 649 - 1st - NY backs. Do Minor League cards exist with the other backs?

And finally, if anyone knows of a "master" front and back checklist (similar to the T206 Monster Book) please let me know. If not, and information you have about front and back combinations would be greatly appreciated. If you want, you can email me a list of what you have.

Thanks,
James Walker, Jr.

Posted By: Harry
Even though I do not have either sample in my T205 set, I have had several chances over the years to acquire Hindu backs. Years ago, either Rob Lifson or Ron Oser had a fairly large group of them in one of their auctions. I have probably only seen five Dru

I believe that auction prices will back up my feelings as well.

Posted By: TBob
Perhaps the T206 noteriety has convinced collectors that the Drum back T205 is tougher than the Hindu back. I respectfully disagree. This is based on conversations over the years with advanced collectors of the set. I have owned one of each...

Posted By: A.P.
Well, don't I feel duped for having sold my Hindu for pennies... Oh well, I bought some good stuff with the profit I made on the Hindu. I'm in good health and I'm just about to break 90 in Golf. All's well that ends well.

(thanks for the response)
