To Cut or Not to Cut, That is the Question...

I just picked up a W565 strip for the purpose of getting the Harry Heilmann card.
It is an incomplete strip with 4 of the 5 cards present.
I plan to send if off to get stabbed as all my Tigers HOF collection is graded. The big question for me is whether or not to hand cut the cards so I have Heilmann on his own.

Curious to get thoughts on this.
I don't know a ton about the W565 set other than it was a nice looking card.

Here is a link to a full slabbed strip on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/19793080113...8AAeSwDahpNXr2

Personally I could not cut an item like that. But that's me.

So to each his own, and if you bought it with the intention to cut, then cut away.

Just my 2 cents.

The other guys--

Lon Chaney was "the man of a thousand faces," the original phantom of the opera, a hall-of-famer in silent films. I'm thinking Reginald Denny was also an actor, and Young Stribling was a boxer I'm nearly sure.

As the others are all non-baseball, if yours is a baseball collection, I think I'd cut Heilmann off.

And a different sheet. I just don't have it in me to cut 100yrs old strips or sheets up.

I agree with Robert & Leon above.

Can’t we all just get along?

That's what I thought of too.

What is so hard about this? If you just want a Heilmann card then sell the strip and buy a Heilmann card.

I would assume that it is not easy to find the Heilmann card? I would hate to cut the strip but i would think most of the value would be the one card. At least you can keep 3 cards as a strip.

If it's incomplete already, cut the Heilmann off.

Frame it!

Don’t cut it. Frame it!

If you do the scissor/razor work carefully, you might even get a high number on the slab flip because the TPG will probably base the grade on the condition when it is received because TPGs haven't figured out that a cut strip card is just that, cut. Saul Goodman.

I'm surprised most responses (so far) have been to cut the Heilmann out and not preserve what's left of the strip. Me, I think I couldn't cut it, but that's just me. Maybe look for another Heilmann strip card that is already separated from the strip and keep that strip intact, I bet it looks pretty cool.

I hadn't noticed it's already incomplete. It don't think I have done that and it would still feel weird to be cutting hundred year old "partial" strips. I know I have cut some cards out of papers and scrapbooks before. It comes with the territory, but I give it a lot of consideration before I do it.
