ID Help: 1910s Reds & Knoxville

2 Attachment(s)
I am hoping someone can help me ID these players. Going left to right, I think photos 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 are all the same guy, and he is on the right in photo 3 of the Reds, so these were probably his. It is possible/probable that these photos are different jerseys from Knoxville Reds (1912-1914) rather than being a combination of a Knoxville team and the Cincinnati Reds, but I believe the jerseys they are wearing match the Cincinnati Reds from several years so they can't be ruled out.

Thanks in advance!

Pete Donohue

Pretty sure that's Pete D. of the Reds on the left in the shot with the three in front of the wooden fence, which dates it to the 1920s.

Boob Fowler

Maybe? No sure about Knoxville but looks like him and was a right handed thrower and batted left.

Thanks guys! I think you nailed both of those IDs.

Ol' Boob made appearances with the Reds in 1923, 1924, and 1925. His Baseball Reference page doesn't show this, but his SABR bio says that he played with the Knoxville Pioneers of the Appalachian League in 1922 before joining the Reds:

Pete Donohue played for the Reds from 1921 - 1929, so that gives us Fowler's 3 years on the team as the options.

That leaves the guy in the middle of the photo of the three Reds. It's late so I only did a little bit of looking, but nobody jumped out right away.

I am thinking that the last guy might be Astyanax Douglass. He was on the Reds in 1921 and 1925, which would make this photo 1925 as the only Cincinnati overlap between the three players. He played catcher, which fits as he appears to be wearing a catcher's mitt.

The Boob Fowler Knoxville photos look like they are 1922 as I can only find the single SABR reference to his having played on that team in 1922.

The photo of three guys has some awesome baseball names: Boob Fowler and Astyanax Douglass. I also came across some other pretty great and lesser-known names on these Reds rosters: Cactus Keck, Johnny Couch, Eddie Pick, Bubbles Hargrave, and Chick Shorten.

Thanks again to Tim and Judson!
