Non-local buying on Craigslist

Has anyone here ever made a purchase from someone on Craigslist who is not local? (That is, the seller would ship the item to you?)

Is there any way to do this while still protecting yourself as a buyer?

TIA.

PPGS protects the buyer. FF not.

I've never had to try and get a refund through PayPal. Let's say the seller sends me an empty box...how does that process work? Do they go through some sort of investigation process, or simply refund me because I said so?

If you can't verify their reputable presence on a second platform (Facebook, IG, eBay, etc) I would feel it's extremely risky to buy off craigslist out of area. BUT PayPal G&S should protect you, like others have said...so maybe that's too cautious of a take.

ETA: Unless the seller is so unscrupulous as to send a box of rocks with signature confirmation and you're out of luck after signing, since item shows as delivered.

I have done quite a # of transactions through Craigslist (as a buyer & seller) over the years (nothing in excess of $50 or so) and have never had an issue...

Craigslist is still around? I've found most of my vintage card (and other card) suppliers through FB marketplace.
