https://www.cllct.com/_next/image?ur...ng&w=1920&q=75 Didn't see it mentioned here, but it definitely merits discussion. Pretty cool Post Cereal item sold, saved from the elements by its storage in a nuclear bunker for 50+ years. |
Whoa
Can’t believe it went for that much but I’ve been saying that a lot lately LOL

Just so you know, I have 10 perfect 1989 Gregg Jefferies rookie cards stored away carefully in a fallout shelter.
The children or grandchildren of my beneficiaries will be living the high life 50 years from now!! |
Fred can tell us all about these, but I’m not surprised. The single serving boxes with one card apiece tend to be worth good money. These look like they should be in really good shape.
$2k per box in basically perfect shape actually seems a little low to me. |

Box panel mentions that only the Alpha-Bits box(es) inside has a trading card attached. No guarantee this actually gets cracked, because PSA surely can't fit the full panel in one of their grading holders. It looks to measure 14 inches wide if you submit the entire bottom panel, but only 2.5x10.5 if you submit only the three cards as a panel.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/33602427636...Bk9SR7igrMebZg This 1980s Halloween unopened pack sold for $800 on ebay, so I would think the unopened cache is part of the sale price. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/gIIAA...9/s-l1600.webp |
Fair enough. But I’d still rather have this lot than the logo man card that sold for $12M.

The Post Tens package like this one sold by REA included one Alpha Bits box in each package. ONLY the the Alpha Bits small boxes had one card on the back of the box. None of the other cereals had a card. So each Post Tens package had 4 cards. The three on the bottom and one on the Alpha bits box. Attached is an Alpha Bit box from 1961 showing Wally Moon on the back. This box was included in another type of package of individual boxes called a Treat Pak. The treat Paks had two Alpha Bits boxes per package where the Post 10's had only one. Treat Pak had a solid blue frame around the card. The same 6 cards were included on the Individual size Alpha Bits boxes in 1961. They are Moon (as shown), Nellie Fox, Harvey Kuenn, Al Kaline, Hank Aaron, and Willie Mays. Also shown are ABI's from 1962 (Jay) and 1963 (Hiller) These were from Post 10's packages as the frame is blue and white One of our own Dan McKee had an unopened Individual Alpha Bits box of Kaline for sale at the National it is now listed on ebay. Back to the panel with Mantle on the bottom of the Post 10's tray. Attached are two of mine cut from the tray. As noted by John above the measurement does not allow for PSA to grade it. I assume at some point PSA will decide to make a larger case to hold something like this or larger photos etc. There were seven different 3 card panels on the bottom tray of the 1961 Post Tens packages. Beside the Mantle/Runnels/Neal they are: Berra/Colavito/Larker Shaw/Lumpe/Jones Aspromonte/Logan/Boyer Pappas/Farrell/F. Robinson Hansen/Groat/Banks Al Smith/Killebrew/Cepeda Hope this isn't TMI! I didn't go in with the checklists for the 62 and 63 ABI"S at least. |
Great info! I love the 1962 Joey Jay.
