I'll take Sugden, if he's still available.

Do we know who made the notations on the back? I've seen similar notes on other cards and am assuming they're from a well-known (and meticulous!) early collector.

Thanks!
Doug

Hi Doug
You got Sugden....Maybe Buck Barker on the writing, but that is a guess. I hae a lot of old collectors notes so might be able to help with it later

The notations on the back of Sugden are definitely Buck Barker's. Better still, he notes at the bottom that he got the card from Bill Haber, who had gotten it from Jake Wise. That's wonderful lineage for this card.
B0b Rich@ards0n, who traded with both Barker and Haber half a century ago.

Thanks, Bob, that's a fantastic provenance, and thanks also for helping me understand the notations!

Definitely some stories on the back of that card; I hadn't realized that Sugden was a regular on the 134-loss Cleveland Spiders, or that "DET 12" was due to coming out of retirement for the 24-2 beating the Tigers took when the players went on strike after Cobb's suspension.
