Best single game hitting performance in MLB history

Last night, A's rookie Nick Kurtz went 6 for 6 with 4 HRs, a double and 8 RBI.

Has there been a better offensive game by a player in the history of the game?

That kids putting up some crazy numbers so far, especially for a Rookie.

I’m not gonna say there’s definitely been a better game .
Mark Whiten Went four for five with four home runs and 12 RBIs.
Ohtani Once went 6 for 6 , 3 home runs, two doubles, Two stolen bases and 10 rbis .
Jim Bottomley went 6 for 6 ,2 home runs, a double, 12 rbis
Edit : Whiten 4 runs
Ohtani 4 runs
Bottomley 3 runs

By a Rookie. Best game ever.

"Nick is the first rookie in the league’s 150-year history to hit four home runs in a game and the 20th man in major-league history to accomplish the feat. Among the other 19: Hall of Famers Lou Gehrig, Willie Mays and Mike Schmidt"

a good day

Back in the early 1950s Joe Adcock went 5 for 5 with 4 Home Runs and a double. Not bad...... and of course when Gehrig had his 4 HR day his last time up he flew out to the warning track. a few more feet and he would have had the only 5 in one day!!! And last but not least.......... in 1903 in the Texas League 'Nig" Clarke went 8 for 10 with 8 home runs! Apparently a very very short right field fence that day..... but still......

His "best" cards are probably already selling for 1K and up if not much more.

So Kurtz tied Shawn Green's record of 19 total bases in a single game (Green also hit 4 HRs, 2 Doubles and a single).

But Kurtz had 8 RBIs to Green's 7 and he's of course a Rookie.

So yeah, maybe the best single offensive game ever.

Sure glad I stocked up on all those Shawn Green rookie cards. Do you think it's time to make the move and sell my stake?

Fred Lynns game in Detroit in 75 should at least get a mention.

5/6
3 hr
1 triple
1 single
10 rbi

16 total bases tying the AL record at the time.
The triple was close to being a 4th hr.

Nick Kurtz also hit a double that came within 10-15 feet of being a home run. Note the red circle where the ball was hit.

Unfortunately, he is only getting a rookie salary and will likely be gone when eligible for free agency.

Fellow hot hitting rookie teammate Jacob Wilson has a fractured left forearm.

Similar to Josh Hamilton's 4 hr game at Camden. He hit one maybe 10 ft away from being a homer that hit the track.

Wow, that's crazy that he was that close to 5 Home Runs!

Not to denigrate the 6 for 6 or four homer game, the total bases etc, impressive stuff to be sure, but I always thought Tony Cloninger going 3/5 while hitting two grand slams and 9 RBIs doesn't get it's due.

AND PITCHED A COMPLETE GAME against a Giants lineup that included Willie Mays and Willie McCovey...

...at Candlestick Park...

One of the 'corners' of my collection is Certified Autographed Cards of the players who achieve one of the 'single game feats' ( 4 HRs, Perfect Game, Unassisted Triple Play), so I had to grab a high-priced one ( RC was already too high to consider)- a lot higher than Suarez's earlier this year.

FYI- such cards of UTP achievers are much harder to find...of course they have to produce them...
