R310 Butterfinger Overprint question
Hello
I recently won a R310 Overprint and it arrived in the mail today. My question is about the cardstock. I owned a few of these over the years and my 64 year old memory tells me the cardstock is off. Could someone either post a picture of the back of their R310 Overprint or simply comment on the color. My memory tells me that the back was similar in color to the front. But the one I got today is light grey and seems thinner than I remember. Much thanks to any who help. |
It's my understanding that the actual premiums are on thin paper, and the overprints are on thin cardstock.

Yes the R310's are basicly paper. The Overprints are cardboard. My question is the color of the back. My memory tells me they were sepia / sandy white, not very different from the color of the paper stock. The one I got today is light grey. But It has been over a decade since I handled an overprint so reaching out for to make sure.

I will try and dig up mine because I only scanned the front but my recollection is that the backs are light gray.

This is from my last collection. I am too lazy to scan the one I have...but the backs are light gray... . |

Thank you Todd and Leon. Much appreciated. This is the card. Overall a nice example.
Most of the Butterfinger Overprints have come across have been Cardinals. And I have always enjoyed them. They unlike the base cards are very easy to display and share. It was almost sad that when I completed my R310 set it sat in a box that probably only saw the light of day a handful of times in 3 plus decades. They were just too fragile to handle. |
