I don't open wax often...

My wife was at Costco. While she was there, she picked me up a Topps variety package of some sort. I don't collect modern, per se, although the experience of opening packs still appeals to me. Perhaps it's because I seldom rip wax these days.

Here's the unopened box.

For starters, there were two loose cards. One was 2 1/2 x 3 1/2. The other was HUGE!

Next up, there were 7 packs of '25 Topps Series 1.

I'll admit it. I barely recognized two-thirds of the names. Still, there were rookies, a few Phillies (Bryce Harper, Zack Wheeler, and Ranger Suarez) and some other goodies.

Next up, there were three packs of "Flagship Collection" cards.

The Flagship cards are fairly thick. Nice looking cards; however, I don't have top loaders this thick. I'm pretty sure the value of these is fairly low, though, so that's OK.

Last up were the 5 packs of Heritage. I've been a fan of Heritage for 25 years. I wish Topps would release base sets of these cards. I don't care about inserts and autos...and I haven't built a hand-collated Heritage set since 2012. The boxes are just too damn expensive for that purpose.

As always, I had fun with the Heritage. Seeing the 1976 Topps design reminded me of just how old I am, though. Next year's design will be the one I remember opening as a kid.

So, there it is. A random impulse purchase by my wife. Of course, she said it was a Father's Day present from the cats. Bless their little feline hearts. :)

Have an awesome day, everyone.

I was at Costco this weekend and saw those. Sometimes I miss the old days of just opening packs. Thanks for posting.

Neat!

My father in law brought over a wax box of 1987 Donruss on Father's Day and opened the packs with my younger son (16 yrs old). They'd hand 'em to me after they went thru them and it was fun seeing Strawberry and Hershiser and Puckett etc to reminisce back when I was 9 yrs old opening packs from that year. Got a couple of Rickeys and Clemens and Ripkens and Bonds too but no Maddux nor McGuire.
