1939 Play Ball - 92 Ted Williams (authentic?)

2 Attachment(s)
Hello,

First time posting. I discovered a trove of authenticated as well as not authenticated baseball cards when helping a family member move. Based on my knowledge of the collector, I wouldn’t expect to find fakes but you never know. Any thoughts on the attached images of a 1939 Play Ball Ted Williams (92)?

Not Authentic.

It is perfectly centered, it has pointy tips and the printing is off (is the main thing), to name 3.

Look on the back and you will see, near the bottom, the words "Printed in USA"; compare the 2 shown.

Thanks! There were at least 2 print variations, obvious differentiator is name in all caps or mixed. This PSA 9 has print (more) similar to my card.

Never really looked at those differences. Point taken. How about the whitish color sticking out all the way around the borders of the card? And the printing is still way off. Much fuzzier on yours. And that 9 still isn't centered as well as your card.
There is less than 1 in 1/10000th chance your card is real. But lets keep going.

I have many 1939 Play Balls, and as Leon says, that one looks NOTHING like any of mine. The stock is wrong, the print is wrong, perfect centering, etc. I sometimes think these posts are fishing expeditions, deliberate attempts to get experts to divulge facts in order to "improve" the fakes. But as I have posted on several other threads, the fakes seem to be getting worse and worse. Either that, or I am getting better at singling out the fakes.

Here is a thread about some of the differences in the 1939 Play Balls.

Thanks for the feedback. Not a ‘fishing expedition’, just a non collector trying to figure out what I have. Fortunately the find did include quite a few PSA graded cards, was hoping this one was legit.

I too have issues with the card, but my general advice is to take cards out of the sleeve before photographing or scanning them for posts like this. you'd be surprised what clear plastic can actually hide!
