1992 Topps Images/Information Needed
Good morning!
I am prepping to add a 1992 page to my site, and am in need of the following: 1) I have all 6 sheet images, but could use better shots of D and F. 2) Need image or code and content quantity (i.e. 20 boxes?) of Wax Cases 3) 34-card cellos: need case image, code and quantity information 4) I have an image of an open cello box with a folded box topper - were these in all boxes (vice only cellos)? And if someone has an image of a full one unfolded, that would be helpful. 5) 41-card large cellos - need commodity code. Also, images of boxes and cases, with codes and content quantity. 6) 41-card large cellos with gold stickers ("Grand Slam" event/"One Gold Card" inside) - same needs as for the regular large cellos. Also - what is the story with these - issued late in year, only in conjunction with special event - what was the "Grand Slam Celebration", etc. 7) 90-card Grocery Cellos - commodity code, box and case images along with their codes and content quantities. 8) Racks - commodity code, and case code/content 9) Factory Sets - I am tracking 5 - Regular, Holiday, White Box with printing, white box with label applied and Gold. Need case images/codes/quantities/intended points of sale for all, particularly the Gold. Need commodity codes for all but regular and holiday. 10) Micro - need case image/code/quantity 11) Traded - need case image/code/quantity. Were the standard boxes and the flat blue rectangular boxes sold at different locations - i.e. retail vs. hobby? 12) Gold parallel - I recall 1/per wax box...was this the same across all distro types - 1 per box? 13) Pre-production regular and gold sheets - where/how were these distributed? As always - my thanks to all who are able to help me fill in these blanks! |
I don't have photos or answers to most of your questions, but I do have the pack odds information on the golds.
There was one gold in every 36 wax packs (one per box), one in 18 cello packs (24 pack box), one in 12 rack packs (24 pack box), one in 6 jumbo packs, 5 in every vending box, and 10 in every factory set. Hope that helps. |
It does - thank you!
I'm forced to ask - did vending boxes include 495 regular cards and the 5 gold? Or were the 5 gold somehow squeezed into the boxes with the normal 500 card complement? Vending boxes were packed tightly, and in 1992 they uses the same boxes they had used in 1990 and 1991. Even an additional 5 cards would have been an extremely tight fit. So, I am guessing it was 495/5. |
SCD says the standard and gold preproduction sheets were distributed to dealers. Topps gold cards were inserts in most Topps packs that year and there is also a factory set which included a autographed Brian Taylor card.
The gold winner cards were prizes from the scratch off contest insert cards and came in cello packs (due to a design flaw in the contest cards they were easy to win). The checklist cards in the regular set were replaced by 6 player cards in the Winners set. They are check listed in the 2011 SCD Catalog Topps also produced it's 2nd Golden Spike Award card honoring the top amatuer player. It was Kelly in 1991 and Nevin 1992 Topps also produced a cartoon Kids set of 132, and the 2nd Micro set. There was also a set of Tiple header Photo ( ping pong) Balls ( 26 in the set in individual boxes with terrible candy. And also a Major League Debut set of 194 featuring the debuts of players in 1991 |
