Hope all is well.

Just curious who is going to the National this year?
How many days? What days?
Are we doing any meet ups?

I will be staying at the Hyatt, across the street, if anyone wants to meet there for a few cold ones. Attending Thurs, Fri and Sat., coming back Sunday...

Here is a card I got at the National about 25 yrs ago...Sold it in 2015 with my collection and reacquired it not long ago...Shown before but still cool.

Ill be there the duration.

Skipped planning a formal Net54baseball event this year.

I'll be there this year. I have a work trip to Chicago that week so I'll be there after work on Fri through Sunday.

My wife and I will be there for a couple days.

I will be there Tues - Fri and always love to meet up with collectors! Particularly anyone who collects football in addition to baseball.

My Vintage Football Community will be having our annual Pizza Dinner on Thursday night for anyone who wants to talk football, drink beer, and eat pizza.

Some of the very best times I have had in the Hobby have been at various Nationals over the past twenty-five years. Sad to say that the last time I have been off Vancouver Island or even outside Victoria city-limits was for the 2019 Chicago National. In the interim was Covid, the onset of my wife's dementia and all the woe that entails. I had big hopes to go to the National this summer. Wanted to shake hands with many old friends one more time. Have been sidelined by, of all things, a goddam hernia and am relegated to the dreadful waiting list for surgery that is a failing of our "free" medical plan in Canada. Am just not up to running the gauntlet of airports and particularly having to deal with the friendly psychos at the US border. I'm aware that many of you don't give a hoot whether I'm there or not but some of the old-timers might want to know that ol' Kawika sends his regrets.

Best of luck with your wife's dementia David, my mother is going through the same thing. Love and patience is the order of the day.

Missed last year, but I'll be there Thurs. and Friday this time. Looking forward to it!

I'll be there for the first time since 2019. Looking forward to hanging out with friends more than anything else, but bringing a long want list just in case.

best part of the National is meeting up and seeing everyone and finally meeting people from the forum or with whom I have made trades/purchases and never met in person

Just wanted to say thanks for the kind comments about my situation. It's been a tough road so far and the future promises more of the same. The friendship and the aloha of my "baseball buddies" has been a great help in keeping my keel upright. I am grateful every day. Maybe someday I'll be able to bring off a trip to a card show or maybe a spring training meet-up. 'Til then . .

Phil: I'm truly sorry to learn of your mother's condition. It's devastating to watch the lights go out slowly on a loved one you knew as vibrant and lively. I would add courage and faith to your list, the courage to endure and the faith that things will go as well as they can. I took Jeannette to a care home last winter when I couldn't manage anymore. I can't praise her caregivers enough for their cheerfulness and kindness. I hope your Mom is getting good care.

I'll be there Wednesday PM to Saturday. Going to Nationals Thursday and Friday. I'm staying near Rivers Casino Des Plaines which is 5 minutes from Donald Stephens. Open to meeting for dinner anywhere in Rosemont or the casino. You can always catch an Uber with me to Nationals if you're staying near the casino. As of now, none of the hotels in that area offer a shuttle. Looking forward to another fun Nationals.

If you guys are planning a big meet-up, hold it somewhere that has a 'Dollar Menu.'
You're meant to waste your money on cards, not foodstuffs!! :cool:

First National
 

Just booked my hotel and excited to attend my first National. I'll be at the show Thursday and Friday. Also looking forward to attending a game at Wrigley.

Open to any advice from those who have attended the show before. Thanks!

I will be attending the National for the first time since the 1991 Anaheim fiasco. I stood in line from 7 AM until after 1 PM. The lame Upper Deck promos with Looney Tunes and baseball stars attracted a new breed of flippers, who couldn’t care less about cards. I have attended over 25 San Diego Comic Conventions, many New York Comic Cons, Wizard Chicago in Rosemont, but never experienced anything like the 1991 disaster. The crowds were so unruly that Kareem Abdul Jabbar cancelled his autograph session.

Flying in Friday and leaving Monday. I will be staying at the O’Hare Hilton and can take the Blue Line L to the Rosemont stop and walk over to the convention.

Will be seeing a friend in Buffalo Grove, but do hope to meet some board members. Have a great time and happy collecting!

I'm staying at the same Airport Hilton. But I arrive Wed. afternoon and depart Saturday...

Question... What is the "Blue Line L"? If it's convenient, I may use it as well.

Did anyone Book at the Hyatt Rosemont? I just found out when I checked my booking that it has been rebranded as the Hyatt Centric Chicago O'Hare.

I booked last year online thru Booking.Com

Now checking I called for some information and the hotel has a message saying it is closed and under renovation and opening in early 2025.

Yet Booking.com and other websites still have it as available to book rooms.

Tried calling booking and they sadly were not helpful and said they would send an email to the property(which again I advised I called) for an update and/or list of alternatives.

Especially sucks because since I booked well in advance got an excellent rate and Booking so far sadly no help

As stated above, Here is where I am staying (maybe it's what you are thinkin of?)...It's across the street from the National. I am thinking if anyone wants to meet in the bar on Friday night, after the show, we could get to meet some members....

I wish I was mistaken the place I chose was a mile away and is in process of being rebranded and is under construction. And if you call them at 847-518-1234 you will hear the message that states the Hyatt rosement Chicago O’hare and under construction as we rebrand to Hyatt Centric…. Will re-open in early 2025.

So I am waiting to see what booking.com can provide or not and then if necessary I will book something else.
Just frustrating no notice from anyone of any type so perhaps they open before but I do not know.
But odd as they are taking reservations online that far out but on there website if you put in reservation dates early any day in early to mid June nothing is available.
I think they are hoping to be open in late June/early July but not comfortable with it and their lack of communication

Since I always buy my cards at The Dollar Store, this makes perfect sense.

I will be there Wednesday to Sunday. I am flying across the world to be there! Can't wait, 1st national in 33 years.
