April 2025 - Grading Recap
Overall grading activity was ⬆8% in April compared to March and ⬆31% YoY.

April results set a new high for the third consecutive month.

Grading activity crossed 2 million cards in April, up ~160k compared to March.

PSA graded 1.56m cards - ⬆6% vs Mar, ⬆29% YoY. [Record high]

CGC graded 341k cards - ⬆37% vs Mar, ⬆89% YoY. [Record high]

SGC graded 167k cards - ⬇4% vs Mar, ⬆2% YoY.

Beckett graded 57k cards - ⬇17% vs Mar, ⬇9% YoY.

There were 22 business days in Apr ’25, 21 business days in Mar ’25, & 22 business days in Apr ’24. On a per business day basis, PSA was ⬆1% in Apr vs Mar, CGC ⬆31%, SGC ⬇8%, and Beckett ⬇20%.

Interesting, CGC graded twice as many cards as SGC yet I hardly ever hear anything about them - is CGC grading mostly modern cards?

TPG, modern non sports cards.

So much for all the talk about SGC being a buffer between PSA and CGC.

But maybe CGC isn't doing much in the way of vintage baseball, so within our small slice of the grading world, SGC is still functioning to keep CGC a distant 3rd?
