Your thoughts on legendary cuts autographs

I read that the general consensus here is that cut autographs are some of the most forged items in our hobby however, what are your thoughts on the upper deck certified pack pulled sp legendary cuts autographs that are commonly for sale on eBay? Thanks

I’m sure it’s possible some are bad, but I’ve never seen one from those particular products that stood out as a clear forgery. They also purchased large lots of canceled checks for product and I’ve always considered those one of the safest mediums to buy.

In the beginning they were buying cuts from the most reputable dealers- Stinson, Gordon, Averitt, Simon etc so they were vetted pretty well. Not sure about recent ones

I really like the look of the 2005 UD SP Legendary Cuts. I have about 25 of the cards. I like some of the other years as well, but concentrate on 2005.

The 2001 set was absolutely epic. Print run of 100+ for Jackie Robinson and Walter Johnson among others.

I honestly don't know what they were thinking at the time. I believe they bought some large collections of signed checks, but didn't seem to consider making sure that they maintained the inventory for years to come. The quality of the cuts was pretty consistently worse after the first year (meaning, the quality ink and paper) and the print runs for major players was a small fraction of what you had in 2001.

back when it started Upper Deck had sent letters to the big dealers lisitng prices they would pay for signatures of various players. The amount was fairly generous and some of the dealers reached out to their customers too wanting to purchase. I think that is how they got alot of the inventory. Supply ran out fairly quickly of the Walter Johnson, jackie Robinson caliber guys and alot of good items especially checks were ruined
