Wagner For Sale on eBay

Asking $30,000,000 (good luck with that)

Not sure I've ever seen a "real" one for sale on ebay (if indeed this one is real?)

Looks like a reprint that has been purposely damaged to try and make it seem real.

If I came across a card like that and honestly thought it was real (as a potential seller) I would get it graded.

The seller (in my opinion) is looking for easy money by trying to scam someone.

I have seen this post. What I don't understand is why this doesn't fall under the eBay "Authenticity Guarantee" which is usually any raw card or slab over $250.

nat 04-30-2025 09:30 AM

It states in the listing that it's a reprint. But then again it also says "Parallel/Variety: Gold," so maybe if somebody drops thirty million dollars on it they can return it as "not as described."

Mantle77CA 04-30-2025 09:55 AM

It’s not real. There is another low life on eBay based out of Hong Kong that lists reprints without identifying it in the title and puts pricing on them well over what any reprint is worth. Just need to be careful on there unfortunately.

If it were real, one would think you would take a little more time to get better pictures without glare. ::sigh::

Kids these days.

A Wagner was auctioned on eBay, a long time ago.

https://money.cnn.com/2000/07/14/investing/q_card/

Not sure about the details, but it looks like REA and Mastro were somehow involved. According to the article, also looks like they used a 15-minute closing format, rather than the usual eBay bidding cutoff.

Sigh... Does it never end? That's fake as can be. In fact, I haven't seen one lately that DOESN'T look fake.

Edit: I was going to cuss, for emphasis, but it just isn't necessary.

It has to be real....It has a date stamp on it.

I thought ebay had a specific rule that no ungraded T206 Wagners may be sold on its site. Even the lousy automated AI approach ebay uses to investigate rules violations should have caught that one.

They do. This card is listed as a reprint but clearly isn't being sold as one. It's ridiculous.

I basically stopped reporting items because of constantly getting this canned response and no action. Just because their AI sucks doesn’t mean they still can’t take it down and tell the the seller the algorithm made a mistake and please relist at our cost. But then again, EBay admit a mistake? Insane wishful thinking.

Apparently no one who sold this crap to them explained that AI is self learning and actually inputting when mistakes are made will improve the product. Maybe they were all just sleeping through that part of the presentation.

I'm almost certain that if some schmo pulls the trigger on a $30,000,000 card then eBay isnt going to say a word (all the way to the bank)

If some clown was so rich to buy an obvious copy of one the most well known Wagners (this is the 1909 World Series Wagner) they honestly should lose 30 million.
