1952 Bowman Baseball Question
1 Attachment(s)
Hello,
I started collecting 1952 Bowmans as a kid during the early '80s. Only had ten or twelve in my collection before abandoning the hobby. Am looking to try again to complete the set and so I've started looking around the internet at cards, prices, etc. My question: I realize centering is a major problem for these cards, but I'm seeing slabbed cards that don't even look rectangular. I'll attach a couple images to demonstrate. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if a card image is visibly titled to one side along its width, shouldn't the image ALSO appear tilted EVEN MORE VISIBLY along its length? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you! |
Travis, if I understand your question correctly, my answer is no, the card image should not be "tilted" along any edge. What you have there appears to me to be a card that has been trimmed at a severe angle along the bottom. Why someone would do that, I have no idea. It could be that the trimmer was using a guillotine cutter to trim a large number of cards and it happened to wiggle somewhat on the Newcomb producing a severe miscut. I don't think the card was originally issued like that.
